EMBROIDERIES OF THE SOUTH

The Design Bank Project aims to create a library of various resources that document and represent the various forms of needlecraft across India. As a design researcher, I covered the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka documenting and sampling the traditions of Lambani and Kasuti embroideries in Karnataka and Toda embroidery and convent needlework and lacework from Tamil Nadu. A set of embroidery samplers were made with the craftspeople for each technique.  The complete set of samplers can be viewed here.
